Bhubaneswar: A 12-year-old boy who had gone missing three days ago from Karadangi village under Telkoi police limits in Keonjhar district was found lying unconscious near the neighbour’s house, on Friday.
The boy was rescued from a pit in the backyard of the house of a woman named Rashmi Patra, who had been accused by the missing boy’s parents of kidnapping him.
According to the missing boy’s mother Rinki Patra, she had filed a complaint with the police on August 27, alleging that Rashmi had kidnapped her son. She had alleged that her son stole money from Rashmi’s house along with Rashmi’s 5-year-old son.
In the complaint, she had accused Rashmi of detaining her son and also keeping his bicycle. Rashmi had allegedly threatened to release the boy and the bicycle only if she was given money.
Taking the allegations levelled by Rinki seriously, a team of police officials, led by the SDPO and a senior officer, searched the entire village, including Rashmi Patra’s house, but could not find the boy. However, on Friday, the boy was found unconscious in a pit in the backyard of Rashmi Patra’s house.
The boy has been admitted to a hospital and is undergoing treatment. The police are investigating the incident and have not yet made any arrests.
