Bhubaneswar: A minor boy, who had been missing for two days, was found dead in the Jalaput reservoir near the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border in Koraput district on Tuesday.
The boy, identified as Amit Hantal, was a Class IX student at Jalaput High School.
According to reports, Amit and his two friends, Siba and Goutam, had gone to the nearby Jalaput Dam for a fun trip. While there, they decided to take selfies in the middle of the reservoir. As they were taking selfies from the edge of the boat, the wooden boat capsized and all three fell into the water.
Goutam, who knew how to swim, managed to reach the shore safely, but Siba and Amit went missing.
Goutam rushed home and informed his family about the incident. After notifying the police, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) personnel launched a search operation. Today, Amit’s body was found and the police and ODRAF personnel are continuing their search for the other missing boy.
