Rairangpur: A medical college student from Jajpur district, who went missing from Berhampur on August 31, was rescued from Tiring in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday.
Sagar Sahu, 20, son of Rabindra Sahu of Kapali village under Kuakhia police station, is a student of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur. He had gone missing on August 31, following which his family lodged a complaint with the police. Despite searches by police and family members, his whereabouts could not be ascertained.
Sagar reportedly contacted his family on Tuesday using the mobile phone of a conductor while travelling from Tata in neighbouring Jharkhand to Rairangpur in a private bus. After being informed by the family, personnel from Rairangpur and Tiring police stations intercepted the bus and rescued him near Tiring.
He has been kept at Tiring police station, while personnel from Kuakhia police station and his family are on their way to take him back, police sources said.
