Cuttack: The office of the Marriage Registrar today rejected the marriage application of Tirtol MLA Bijay Shankar Das, citing wrong information in the application.
The MLA had moved to the office of the registrar seeking permission to marry one Pratyusha Nanda of Arunodaya Nagar in Cuttack. He stated in the petition that Pratyusha was unmarried. Later, it was found that she was a married lady and got divorce from her husband.
The MLA’s rumored girlfriend Somalika had moved to the registrar office with an objection petition claiming that Pratysha had got married. Somalika also furnished some documentary evidence regarding her allegations.
The legislator had submitted an application on September 21 at the registrar office for registration of his marriage with Pratyusha.
Bijay was in a relationship with Somalika and was supposed to marry her. However, he didn’t turn up to marry her on the day of the wedding.
Later, Somalika had brought a series of allegations against him including rape.
