Bhubaneswar: The Mohan Majhi government in Odisha on Tuesday changed the colour and design of school uniforms for Class IX and X students of public and government-aided schools under the Mukhyamantri Chhatra Chhatri Paridhan Yojana
The green colour of the uniforms introduced by the previous BJD regime led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2023 will now be changed to light brown and maroon. The boys will wear checkered light brown shirts and maroon pants while girls will wear checkered kurta with maroon jacket and salwar.
In a letter to Director, Secondary Education, the School and Mass Education Department in informed that the government has approved the final design and colour of the uniforms. “The new design may be implemented in schools where uniforms in the old design have not been stitched or distributed,” the letter read.
Earlier, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond had said that the state government may restore the previous school uniform colour to blue and white.
