Bhubaneswar: BJP’s senior tribal leader and MLA from Keonjhar Assembly constituency, Mohan Charan Majhi, is to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Odisha at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, in a grandeur ceremony today at 4:45 pm.
The oath-taking ceremony will be observed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
In a formal meeting of all elected BJP MLAs held under the leadership of veteran BJP leaders Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav, who were appointed as observers by the Central leadership to select the CM face of Odisha, unanimously proposed Mohan Majhi’s name for the next CM of Odisha on Tuesday.
Along with the CM-designate, two deputy CMs Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, were also selected by the party members.
After the meeting, all stalwart leaders of BJP accompanied Mohan Majhi to meet Governor Raghubar Das at Raj Bhawan and stake claim to form the government.
Majhi also gave the list of 78 BJP MLAs to the Governor and the letters of support from three other independent MLAs.
The meeting was also attended by three union ministers from Odisha, Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jual Oram, along with Members of Parliament.
