Cuttack: Despite the orders of the Drugs Control Department, counterfeit drugs are still being found in various districts of the state including Cuttack. Last night fake Telma-40 and Telma-AM medicines worth over Rs 20 lakh were seized during raids at three pharmaceutical distribution agencies in Cuttack.
The raids had been conducted in Nayasadak and Nimchouri areas of Cuttack under the leadership of Assistant Drugs Controller Dharmadev Puhan. The fake medicines have been confiscated by the department.
It is worth noting that fake medicines worth Rs 50 lakh have been seized from the Cuttack market alone. Earlier, fake medicines worth Rs 30 lakh were seized from some pharmaceutical distribution agencies. Both the police and the drug control department are continuing joint action on this.
However, even after this, it is found that many essential medicines of reputed companies have been leaked to the Odisha market by counterfeiting them. Today, a team of the Drug Control Department will go to Bihar’s Gaya and Patna and other places outside the state to investigate the case of counterfeit drugs, said Puhan.
