Bhubaneswar: Given the summer heat in the coming days, the School and Mass Education department has directed all government and private schools across Odisha to conduct morning classes in all schools from April 11. The Information and Public Relations Department has issued a notification to this effect.
According to the directive, the classes will commence at 7.00 am and continue till 11:30 am. The district administration can, however, change the schedule because of the heat-wave condition in their respective region.
In addition, the school authorities have been directed to provide clean drinking water and other facilities to combat a possible heat wave.
The new academic session will start on April 3 for Classes I to XII and enrollment in schools will be completed by April 8.
“The academic session is starting on April 3 this year. Admissions of students will take place from April 3-8. Proper arrangements have been made to provide textbooks to students immediately after their admission,” said School and Mass Education minister, Samir Ranjan Dash.
