Dhenkanal: In a tragic incident, a woman and her son were killed on Monday night after a marauding truck ran over them while they were asleep outdoors in Kuturia under Mahabirod police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district. Four others had a miraculous escape.
The deceased have been identified as Runu Pradhan and her son Lipu Pradhan.
According to reports, six people, including Runu and Lipu, were sleeping at the Kutaria jatra ground on Monday night when a truck ran over the victims. The driver fled the spot immediately after the tragic incident.
While Runu was rushed to Parjang Medical Center where she breathed her last, Lipu succumbed to his injuries at the Kamakshyanagar Medical Center.
On being informed Mahabirod police reached the spot and launched an investigation.
