Bhubaneswar: The Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan on Friday called for an Odisha bandh on September 30, demanding action over errors in school textbooks and the resignation of the School and Mass Education Minister.
The announcement was made by the organisation’s national coordinator Akshay Kumar.
The farmers’ organisation has raised concerns over errors in textbooks for Classes I to VIII and held the School and Mass Education Department and the minister responsible for the issue.
The organisation has appealed to people across the state to support the bandh.
The call comes amid a controversy over errors detected in newly published school textbooks earlier this year. Thousands of errors were reportedly found in textbooks, triggering criticism from Opposition parties, educationists and other stakeholders.
The Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan has demanded accountability from the department and sought the resignation of the School and Mass Education Minister over the textbook errors.
