Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) achieved a historic milestone in 2025 by recording the highest visitor turnout in its history, underscoring its growing popularity as a major eco-tourism and conservation destination in Odisha.
According to zoo authorities, 40,20,539 visitors visited Nandankanan and its adjoining facilities during the calendar year, marking the highest annual footfall ever recorded. Of this total, 38,43,028 visitors visited the zoological park, while 1,77,511 people visited the State Botanical Garden located near the zoo premises.
The latest figures reflect a steady rise in visitor interest, surpassing the 37,99,632 visitors recorded in 2024, officials said.
Alongside the surge in footfall, Nandankanan also witnessed a significant increase in revenue. The zoo’s total earnings from all sources in 2025 stood at Rs 23.23 crore, registering an increase of Rs 1.06 crore compared to the revenue collected in the previous year.
Zoo authorities attributed the growth in visitors and revenue to improved visitor amenities, efficient management practices, and sustained public engagement with Nandankanan’s conservation, education and eco-tourism initiatives.
The record-breaking performance further reinforces Nandankanan’s position as one of eastern India’s leading wildlife and nature destinations.
