Bhubaneswar: The third National Lok Adalat of the current year will be held on September 12, 2026, at all judicial and revenue courts in Khordha district, the Khordha District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bhubaneswar, said in an official statement.
The Lok Adalat will provide an opportunity for amicable settlement of a wide range of pending cases through mutual consent. These include compoundable criminal cases, cheque-bounce cases, bank loan disputes, traffic challans, revenue matters, labour disputes, matrimonial cases except those relating to divorce, land acquisition matters, motor accident cases and land disputes, among others.
The facility will also be available for pre-litigation disputes, where a case has not yet been filed before a court. Such matters include bank loan defaults and disputes relating to telephone, electricity and drinking water bill defaults.
According to the DLSA, parties seeking settlement through the Lok Adalat will not have to incur any financial cost. Awards passed by the Lok Adalat will be final, binding and executable. In cases where a pending matter is settled, the court fee already paid will also be refundable.
The authority has urged people to make use of the opportunity to secure a simple and speedy resolution of long-pending disputes while avoiding litigation-related expenses and loss of time.
