Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and former Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday congratulated D. K. Shivakumar on assuming office as the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
In a message posted on X, Patnaik conveyed his best wishes to Shivakumar and expressed hope that the southern state would achieve greater progress under his leadership.
“Congratulations to Shri D K Shivakumar ji on being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. I wish that under your leadership, the state reaches new heights of development. Best wishes,” Patnaik said.
Earlier in the day, Shivakumar, who also serves as the Karnataka Congress president, took oath as the Chief Minister at a ceremony held in Bengaluru. Along with him, 13 legislators, including senior Congress leader G. Parameshwara, were sworn in as members of the new Council of Ministers.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, senior party leader Rahul Gandhi, outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and several other party leaders and dignitaries.
Patnaik’s message came amid congratulatory wishes pouring in from political leaders across the country following the formation of the new government in Karnataka.
