Bhubaneswar: BJD chief Naveen Patnaik has strongly condemned MP Nishikant Dubey’s derogatory remarks on his father and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik.
Patnaik expressed shock and disappointment over Dubey’s comments, saying it reflects his mental health issues and advised him to consult a specialist.
The controversy stems from Dubey’s recent statement targeting Biju Patnaik’s role in the 1962 China war. Patnaik reminded that Biju Patnaik played a crucial role in the war efforts while then PM Nehru led the diplomatic front. He highlighted Biju Patnaik’s contribution in allowing US planes to refuel in Odisha during the war. Patnaik questioned Dubey’s credibility, recalling how Nehru had summoned Biju Patnaik during the war, showcasing his stature. “I was just 13 then,” Patnaik added.
“I was surprised to find the outrages things that Shri Dubey said about Biju Babu yesterday. I do not think he knows that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had put an office next to his in Delhi while Biju Babu was still the Chief Minister of Odisha to do the tactics and fight the Chinese. I was very young at the time, about 13 years old, but I remember how furious Biju Babu was with the Chinese attack and how much he did to repel it. I think Nishikant Dubey needs some mental doctor’s attention for saying these outrageous things,” said Patnaik talking to mediapersons.
It is pertinent to mention that Nishikant Dubey alleged that Jawaharlal Nehru fought the 1962 war with US support and CIA coordination, claiming Biju Patnaik acted as a liaison between the US government, CIA, and Nehru.
