Bhubaneswar: The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has withdrawn show-cause proceedings against 15 teacher education institutions in Odisha after examining their compliance reports and faculty details submitted in accordance with its regulations, officials said.
The decision was taken at the 410th meeting of the Eastern Regional Committee (ERC) of the NCTE, held in New Delhi on October 1, 2026, according to an official press release issued on Tuesday.
The ERC examined the lists of faculty members approved by the respective universities, along with the responses submitted by the concerned institutions.
Following a detailed examination of the compliance reports and other documents, the committee decided to withdraw the show-cause proceedings against all 15 teacher education institutions in the state.
The decision comes as a relief to the institutions concerned and is expected to provide reassurance to students pursuing B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes, besides faculty members and other stakeholders.
The development also reflects coordination among the Odisha government’s Higher Education Department, the concerned teacher education institutions and their respective universities, the release said.
With the withdrawal of the proceedings, no further action is required from the institutions in connection with the matter, according to the committee’s decision.
