NEET-UG Re-Test: NTA Shifts Odisha Student’s Centre From Dehradun To Bhubaneswar

NEET-UG Re-Test

Bhubaneswar: In a major relief for an Odisha-based NEET-UG aspirant and her family, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday revised the candidate’s examination centre for the June 21 re-test, shifting it from Dehradun in Uttarakhand to Bhubaneswar after her parents raised concerns over the last-minute allotment of a venue nearly 1,500 km away from home.

The candidate, Sanjana Sanjibanee, had originally appeared for the NEET-UG examination on May 3 at the College of Agriculture under OUAT in Bhubaneswar. However, when she downloaded her admit card for the re-test, she found that her examination centre had been allotted at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Raipur, in Dehradun.

With the examination barely a day away, the development left the family distressed, as it was practically impossible to travel such a long distance at such short notice.

Sanjana’s father, Sanjay Kumar Biswal, an ex-serviceman, approached the Indian Ex-Services League (IESL), Odisha, and sought intervention from the concerned authorities. The issue soon gained traction after Veterans’ Club Odisha highlighted the matter on the social media platform X, urging the Ministry of Education and the NTA to take immediate corrective action.

Following the representations, the NTA reviewed the case and issued a fresh admit card restoring the candidate’s examination centre to Bhubaneswar.

“Heartfelt thanks to the MoE, NTA & all concerned authorities for restoring the NEET examination centre from Dehradun to Bhubaneswar. This timely decision has brought immense relief to the ward of an ESM & the family. Grateful for the prompt & compassionate response,” Veterans’ Club Odisha posted on X.

According to the family, they had also contacted the NTA helpline and were advised to submit their grievance via email. Soon after, they received a call from the agency seeking confirmation regarding the change of centre.

The revised admit card was subsequently issued, ending the uncertainty surrounding the candidate’s appearance in the re-test.
