Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his government have tendered an apology to the devotees of Lord Jagannath over the stampede that claimed three lives in Puri. The incident occurred due to intense excitement among devotees seeking darshan of Mahaprabhu Jagannath on Saradhabali near Gundicha temple last night.

“I personally and my government apologise to all the Jagannath devotees for the incident,” Majhi said, assuring that those responsible would be held accountable.

Majhi expressed his condolences to the families of the devotees who lost their lives and prayed to Mahaprabhu Jagannath to give their families the strength to bear the loss. He acknowledged that the incident occurred due to negligence, which is inexcusable.

“This negligence is inexcusable. The security negligence will be investigated immediately, and necessary steps have been ordered to be taken to take concrete action against the persons involved”, Majhi stated.

The Chief Minister has ordered an immediate investigation into the security negligence and directed that necessary steps be taken to take concrete action against those involved.
