Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over the central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over the same area. The cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilting southwestwards.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low-pressure is likely to become more marked during the next 24 hours and move across south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts and south Chhattisgarh during the next three days. It is likely to cause heavy rainfall in the region, the weather office predicted on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued red, orange, and yellow warnings for several districts of the state for Wednesday.
Red Warning: Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 cm to 20 cm) with isolated extremely heavy (>20cm) rainfall is likely to occur in Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Kandhamal and Ganjam.
Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 cm to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places in Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Khurdha, Puri, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh and Sambalpur.
Yellow Warning: Heavy Rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Bhadrak and Kendrapara.
