Jharsuguda: A newborn baby girl died at the Palsada Primary Health Centre (PHC) under Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district on Sunday, following allegations by the family that she fell due to negligence while being shifted after delivery.
According to reports, a pregnant woman from Machida village was admitted to the Palsada PHC for delivery. The baby was reportedly delivered at the facility and was later being moved for further care when the alleged incident occurred.
The family has claimed that due to improper handling by hospital staff, the newborn slipped and sustained fatal injuries. They further alleged negligence in the handling of the infant immediately after birth.
The incident triggered tension on the hospital premises. On being informed, police reached the spot and detained a doctor along with two other medical staff members for questioning and have initiated an investigation into the incident.
