Bhubaneswar: In a distressing incident, a newborn girl child was found abandoned in Budhikuda village located in Anandpur block, Kendujhar, Odisha.
The infant girl was lying beneath a bush covered in a pile of dirt near the Forest Beat House and was rescued by the villagers after they heard her crying in pain.
After being rescued, the newborn girl was instantaneously taken to the Anandpur Hospital for immediate treatment.
Meanwhile, a woman has come forward claiming to be the mother of the disowned infant.
The police have started an investigation of the matter to find the whereabouts of the deserted girl.
