Bhubaneswar: A newborn girl was found abandoned in a bush behind an ASHA worker’s house in Jhinkiria village under Morada police limits in Mayurbhanj district.
The infant, weighing 2 kg 345 gm, was discovered by ASHA worker Sabitrimani Jena, who immediately rushed her to the Kishantandi Community Health Centre for treatment.
As per reports, the ASHA worker’s daughter-in-law heard a baby’s cry from behind their house and found the newborn girl lying in a bush. The baby girl had injuries and mud on her face and body, indicating she was likely thrown away soon after birth. Thanks to Jena’s quick action, the infant is receiving medical care and is reported to be stable.
Police are investigating the incident, and the baby will be transferred to Baripada’s Child Welfare Committee for further care.
