Jajpur: The Dharmasala police here on Sunday arrested five persons including an Anganwadi worker in connection with the case of sale of a newborn girl in Sanaraipada village.
The accused included, father of the baby girl, two buyers and two persons who facilitated the illegal act, the police said.
According to reports, a baby girl born in the family of Nata Behera and Kanchan Behera at Dharmasala hospital was sold for Rs 12,000 on January 28.
The buyer was a couple from Mahakalpara in Kendrapara district. The district Childline learnt about the matter and rushed to Sanaraipada village.
On Saturday night, the little child was rescued and the police initiated a probe and arrested the accused in this case today.
