Paradip: A tragic incident was reported from Pippal village under the jurisdiction of Paradip Lock Police Station, where a newlywed woman lost her life after being burnt in a fire that broke out in a thatched house on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rini Kumari Dalei, who had married Smruti Ranjan Swain of Pippal village about one and a half years ago. Rini hailed from Kuajang Duadia village.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred when Rini was alone near a small thatched structure adjacent to the main house. At the time, her husband had gone out for work, her father-in-law—who is reportedly ill—was resting at home, and her mother-in-law had gone to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.

For reasons yet to be ascertained, a fire suddenly broke out in the thatched house. The flames quickly spread to a nearby haystack, engulfing Rini in the blaze. She sustained severe burn injuries and died on the spot.

Local residents noticed smoke billowing from the house and rushed to the scene. They attempted to douse the flames by pouring water and immediately informed the fire department. Fire service personnel arrived promptly and brought the fire under control.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Paradip Lock Police reached the spot and have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Further details are awaited.
