Bhubaneswar: The minimum temperatures (night temperatures) dropped below 18°C at several places in Odisha on Thursday night giving a hint that winter is around the corner.
The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar on Friday said that the minimum temperature will drop further in the state resulting in an increase in coldness.
As per the IMD forecast, the mercury will further decrease by 3°C in the next five days and is likely to be below 15 degrees in many places in interior Odisha.
Cold will increase as the flow of dry air from the northwest decreases. While fog occurred at several places in Odisha on Friday morning, G. Udayagiri experienced the lowest minimum temperature of 13°C last night.
The minimum temperatures recorded by IMD at different places in the state during the last 24 hours are below:
- Udayagiri: 13°C
- Koraput: 13.8°C
- Korei: 14°C
- Daringbadi: 14.5°C
- Phulbani: 15°C
- Nabarangpur: 17°C
- Angul: 17°C
- Bhavanipatna: 17°C
- Hirakud: 17.2°C
- Jharsuguda: 17.3°C
- Sonepur: 17.7°C
