Bhadrak: An elderly man was detained on Monday for allegedly impregnating a minor girl in Thokara village under Chandbali police station in Bhadrak district.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Debendra Nayak, a resident of Thukura village under Tentulidihi Panchayat in the same jurisdiction. The girl had been experiencing persistent abdominal pain and was taken to Chandbali Community Health Center (CHC), where doctors confirmed she was seven months pregnant.
Following the medical revelation, the victim disclosed to her family that the accused had lured her with false promises and exploited her over several months. Her family lodged a formal complaint with the Chandbali police, prompting an immediate investigation. Acting on the complaint, the accused was detained and medically examined at the CHC.
Chandbali police are currently investigating the incident further.
