Bhubaneswar: Turakela police rescued nine migrant workers from a local railway station while being trafficked to Hyderabad. Police have detained a person in this connection.
According to sources, the rescued migrant workers, who hailed from various villages under Turakela block, were lured with promises of employment.
The migrant workers were being transported in a Bolero when police came to know about it. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the traffickers at Turakel railway station and rescued the victims.
During the investigation, police revealed that the workers were being taken to Hyderabad by the Sardar.
Police have detained the middleman, identified as the kingpin, and are questioning him.
Police have begun an investigation into it to uncover the trafficking network and identify others involved.
