Bhubaneswar: Amid concerns over a possible COVID-19 fatality in the state, Odisha’s Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra on Sunday clarified that there has been no official confirmation of any COVID-related death so far.
“We have not received any official report confirming a COVID-19 death in the state. The information circulating at the moment is based solely on media coverage—television, newspapers, and other unofficial sources. Our field units have already initiated an inquiry, but as of now, there is no verified report of any fatality due to the virus,” said Dr. Mishra while speaking to the media.
He added that the patients who recently tested positive for COVID-19 were in stable condition and recovering well.
“If anyone has additional information, they are requested to share it with us. We will conduct a thorough investigation and update the media once verified information is available,” he said.
Dr. Mishra also reassured the public that the COVID-19 situation in Odisha remains under control.
“Twelve cases have been reported in the state—nine on Saturday and three more today. All patients are in good health and are currently under home quarantine. None have required hospitalization so far,” he informed.
Emphasizing that there is no cause for panic, Dr. Mishra stated, “The current cases are showing symptoms of a mild variant, such as cold and cough. This strain is less severe, but people are advised to remain cautious and follow basic preventive measures.”
