Bhubaneswar: Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh has directed all Secretaries and senior officers of the state government to undertake field visits to their allotted districts by October 2026.
In a letter issued on September 1, the officers have been instructed to plan a two-to-three-day visit to their respective districts at least once during the period. They have also been asked to spend one night at the district or sub-divisional headquarters. During these visits, the officers will review the implementation of various state government schemes as well as centrally sponsored schemes. Special focus will be given to effective delivery of public services and progress of infrastructure projects.
The visiting officers have been advised to inspect District Headquarters Hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs). They will interact with patients and attendants, assess the availability of essential services, human resources and medicines, and check fire safety and emergency preparedness. They have further been directed to randomly select and visit inaccessible, hard-to-reach and tribal-dominated areas to assess the ground situation.
If required, schemes meant for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) will also be reviewed. Officers may also visit at least one Gram Panchayat to examine the level of saturation of development schemes and basic facilities.
In addition, the officers will review the progress of ongoing rural water supply projects, identify bottlenecks and take steps for early completion of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs).
As per the directive, 30 IAS officers have been assigned responsibility for the 30 districts of the state.
