Bhubaneswar: Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Tuesday said the state government is closely monitoring the Covid-19 situation and people should not panic.
Addressing the media after a detailed meeting with Health department officials, Mahaling said the review was held in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
“I must appeal to the people of the State to not get panic over the Covid situation. The government is alert and monitoring the situation. We are also keeping special vigil in the bordering districts,” the Minister said. He added that the Health department is well prepared to face any situation.
“The government is prepared to take action as per the SOPs which will come from time to time from the Central government,” Mahaling stated.
Odisha has stepped up its measures after Covid-19 resurfaced in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, where eight active cases and one casualty have been reported.
Officials said surveillance has been intensified at hospitals and border areas, and all districts have been asked to remain prepared with testing, treatment and isolation facilities.
