Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning in several districts of Odisha on August 25 and 26.
Residents of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangapur, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara districts can expect heavy downpours on August 25, while Sambalpur and Angul districts will face similar weather conditions on August 26. IMD issued orange warnings to these districts.
For tomorrow (August 22), IMD predicted heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning very at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Balasore.
Going by the prediction of IMD, one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh are likely to experience heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms with lightning on August 23.
For August 24, IMD predicted heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Deogarh.
For August 25, IMD issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms with lightning at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh and Bhadrak.
“Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Koraput and Nabarangapur”, read the IMD’s prediction for August 26.
As per IMD’s prediction for August 27, heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha.
