Bhubaneswar:  Nobel Laureate Professor Dr. Michael Kremer on Saturday visited Krushi Bhavan in Bhubaneswar and learned about the progress of Odisha’s agriculture sector.

Dr. Kremer, who was awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize in Economics in 2019 for his work towards reducing poverty worldwide, is currently a professor at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Kremer expressed happiness at the increase in crop production despite the impact of the cyclone. He also appreciated the provision of weather information to farmers through the ‘Krushak Samrudhi’ portal on a regular basis by the agriculture department. Later, he visited the ‘Krushak Samiksha Kendra’, an integrated command and control system of the Agriculture Department, and learned about its working procedures.

In the past, Dr. Kremer and his team have collaborated with Odisha and expressed the opinion that this collaboration will continue in the future.
