Nor’westers Wreak Havoc In Malkangiri, 2 Missing In Satiguda Dam, 3 Injured In Wall Collapse

Malkangiri:  Nor’westers wreaked havoc at many places in Malkangiri district today afternoon.

According to reports, while trees have fallen down at several places in the district, three persons have been injured as the wall of the under-construction airstrip here collapsed on them.

Two persons Tulsa Madhi (40) of Bhimarangin village and Govind Sardar (35) of MV-111 village have gone missing in the Satiguda Dam.

Power supply has been disrupted at several places in the district due to the falling of trees and damage to power infrastructure under the impact of the nor’westers.

Houses have been damaged in several places under the nor’wester’s impact.

Meanwhile, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrat Sahu has directed the ODRAF unit from Koraput to proceed to Malkangiri for search and rescue and to assist the local Fire Service personnel.

Sahu has also instructed TPSODL for immediate restoration of electrical infrastructure.

He has requested the Collector to assess the house damage by tomorrow to provide assistance to the affected people.
