Sora (Baleshwar): A notorious criminal was injured in a police encounter near Ada Chhak under Simulia police station limits in Baleshwar district on Friday morning.
The injured criminal has been identified as Lokesh, who was reportedly wanted in connection with several criminal cases.
According to reports, a police team spotted Lokesh near Ada Chhak during a search operation. When the personnel attempted to apprehend him, he allegedly opened fire at the police team.
The police reportedly retaliated in self-defence, resulting in an exchange of fire. Lokesh sustained a bullet injury to his left leg during the encounter.
Following the incident, police apprehended Lokesh and rushed him to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
