Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested Susanta Kumar Sethy, a Junior Engineer of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, Khariar under Nuapada R&B Division, in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
Sethy is scheduled to be produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar today. A case has been registered against him under Vigilance Cell PS Case No. 05/2025.
According to an official press release, extensive searches of Sethy’s properties revealed assets far beyond his known sources of income. The recovered assets include three multi-storeyed buildings, a farmhouse, nine high-value plots of land, and two luxury vehicles—one reportedly benami. Additionally, bank deposits amounting to Rs 55 lakhs and household articles valued over Rs 14 lakhs were seized.
Further investigations indicate that Sethy allegedly attempted to hide Rs 55 lakhs in cash and 1.4 kilograms of gold in a tenant’s house to evade detection during the raids. The tenant is currently accused of withholding these assets. An FIR (No. 93 dated 13.4.2024) has been lodged by Sethy’s spouse against the tenant at Dhouli Police Station and police are probing the matter.
The investigation is ongoing.
