Nayagarh: In a swift follow-up action, Nayagarh Police conducted a crime scene recreation in the sensational murder of youth Ajit Sahu at Odagaon in Nayagarh district.
The two main accused Purnachandra Nayak alias Deepu and Mahanta Nayak were brought to the spot, where they demonstrated the sequence of the brutal killing before senior officers.
According to police, Purnachandra caught the victim Ajit by the neck and threw him to the ground, after which Mahanta repeatedly attacked him with a sword. The accused personally showed the police how the crime was committed.
It is pertinent to mention that the Nayagarh Police have cracked the case within 12 hours of the incident. Four persons have been arrested so far, while three others are still absconding. The arrested accused are Purnachandra Nayak, Mahanta Nayak, Manas Behera and Sridhara Sahu.
The absconding accused have been identified as Jagannath Panda, Rabindra Bhatt alias Kalu, and Muna Sahu.
During the investigation, police seized the sword allegedly used in the murder from Bhapur area of Dhenkanal district and also recovered the vehicle used in the crime. The murder occurred due to a dispute over extortion money related to the stone query and previous enmity.
