Bhubaneswar: Odia film Mahima Alekha has been selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama section at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
Produced by Dr Iti Samant and Dr. Snehashree Swain under the direction of award-winning filmmaker Himanshu Sekhar Khatua, ‘Mahima Alekh’ explores the philosophy and practices of Mahima cult, rooted in spiritual and cultural landscape of Odisha
The film delves into the philosophy, rituals, and practices of Mahima cult, showcasing the unique spiritual tradition of Odisha to a national audience. With its selection at IFFI, ‘Mahima Alekha’ is set to bring pride to the Odia film industry and showcase the state’s cultural richness to the world.
The Mahima Dharma movement was characterized by its emphasis on the worship of a single, formless deity, known as ‘Alekh’, or the ‘Invisible One’. It teached the importance of self-discipline, moral integrity, and compassion.
Director Khatua’s effort to showcase the greatness of Mahima Dharma to the world is a commendable attempt, highlighting the significance and majesty of this spiritual tradition.
