Odia Film Producer Tutu Nayak Arrested For ‘Slapping’ Woman Journo

Bhubaneswar: Kharvel Nagar police on Saturday arrested Odia film producer Sanjay ‘Tutu’ Nayak for allegedly misbehaving and slapping a woman journalist in a theatre on Friday.

Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh informed that Nayak has been arrested under sections 354, 294, 341 and 323 of the IPC.

Nayak was arrested following his questioning at the Kharvel Nagar police station.

He will be soon forwarded to court, said police sources.

Earlier in the day, State Commission for Women Chairperson Minati Behera informed that the Commission has viewed the incident seriously and taken suo motu cognizance of the case basing on media reports. She said she has written to the DCP Bhubaneswar to conduct an inquiry into the matter within 15 days and take appropriate action.

In her complaint, the journalist has alleged that she was at the theatre to interview an actor when Nayak allegedly pusher her from behind and slapped her. She also alleged that Nayak’s conduct shocked her while her cellphone and microphone fell down after he pushed her.
