Bhubaneswar: A young Odia girl hogged the headlines for raising her voice in support for ‘paid period leave’ at the United Nations Civil Society Conference 2024 held in Nairobi, Kenya.
Ranjita Priyadarshini of Bhadrak, who has been working for the rights of working women, drew the attention of all the delegates at the international conference regarding the paid leave for women during menstruation.
“I am working for all women employees. And I request everyone. I request everyone here to support for paid period leave for women employees. If period leave is implemented, women employees will get support during menstruation. It is a request that if you all support, then this will help all women employees all over the world,” she said.
Ranjita has raised the voice for women across the world due to the physical pain they suffer during their menstruation at work. Through her profession as a lawyer and her social outfit ‘Phularani Foundation’, Ranjita Priyadarshini has taken important steps in bringing the issue of paid period leave to the forefront on a global platform.
