Bhubaneswar: Odia IPS officer Utkal Ranjan Sahoo was appointed as the new Director General of Police in Rajasthan following the VRS of incumbent Umesh Mishra.
Mishra was appointed DGP of Rajasthan on 27 October 2022.
Born in Odisha, Utkal Ranjan is a 1988 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre. He has done M.Tech (Engineering Geology) and is currently working as the DG of Home Guard in Rajasthan.
In 1991, he worked as an Assistant SP in Jodhpur East. Later, he worked as the chief of police in several districts of Rajasthan including Hanumangarh, Sikar, Banswara, Sriganganagar, Bhilwara. He received the Police Medal in 2005 and the President’s Police Medal in 2017.
Umesh Mishra, a resident of Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, was counted among the favorite officers of former CM Ashok Gehlot.
