Bhubaneswar: In a major push to strengthen the state’s healthcare system, the Odisha government has approved the creation of 6,229 posts, including 5,989 nursing officers and 240 radiographers.
The move, cleared by Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling, is aimed at addressing the shortage of skilled manpower in government hospitals and health institutions across the state. Officials said the recruitment will help improve patient care and ensure timely delivery of medical services.
While nursing officers will play a crucial role in patient management and bedside care, the addition of radiographers is expected to enhance diagnostic services, particularly in district and sub-divisional hospitals where shortages have been reported.
Speaking on the development, the Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing accessible and efficient healthcare services to the public. He expressed confidence that the new appointments would significantly improve patient care and strengthen the overall healthcare system.
The Health Department is expected to soon release detailed recruitment guidelines for the posts, including information related to examinations, training, and postings.
