Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on Monday, bringing the monsoon session to an early end in view of the prevailing flood situation in the state.
Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House sine die after Chief Whip Saroj Kumar Pradhan moved a motion seeking the conclusion of the session.
The seventh session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly commenced on September 22 and was scheduled to continue until October 3. The session was originally scheduled to have nine working days but concluded after just five working days.
The early conclusion of the session came amid the flood situation affecting several parts of the state.
During the five working days, the Assembly passed four bills, according to reports.
The session witnessed frequent adjournments as Opposition BJD and Congress members raised slogans over the MMDR Bill and alleged errors in school textbooks.
With the House adjourned sine die, the monsoon session formally came to an end ahead of its scheduled conclusion.
