Bhubaneswar: The Budget session of Odisha Assembly will commence on Monday and continue till February 13. While this will be the last session of the Assembly before the 2024 general elections, Governor Raghubar Das will address the Assembly at the beginning of the session for the first time.
The Budget session is likely to be a stormy one as the Opposition parties have lined up several issues to corner the state government during the session.
The Budget session will comprise seven working days and Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha will table the interim Budget on February 8 for the 2024-24 fiscal.
According to reports the Opposition BJP and Congress legislators are likely to raise issues like the controversy on rice collection by Arpan Rath, scam in junior teachers’ recruitment, non-implementation of Ayushman Bharat, tribals land transfer, farmer’s death and mismanagement of paddy procurement centers among others.
Meanwhile, Speaker Pramila Mallik convened an all-party meeting on the eve of the Budget session on Sunday and sought the cooperation of all parties in the smooth conduct of the session.
