Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Sunday visited Nandankanan Zoological Park and reviewed the health and care arrangements for rescued orangutans housed at the zoo’s Hand Rearing Centre, officials said.
Garg, accompanied by Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department Principal Secretary Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, PCCF (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden Prem Kumar Jha and other officials, visited the Hand Rearing Centre and took stock of the condition of the rescued orangutans.
During the visit, the Chief Secretary inspected the treatment and care arrangements being provided to the animals and directed officials to ensure continuous monitoring of their health.
She also stressed the need for providing the best possible veterinary services and taking all necessary measures to ensure the health and well-being of the rescued orangutans, officials said.
According to a post by Nandankanan Zoological Park on X, Garg, along with Sarma and Jha, visited the zoo to assess the rescued orangutans at the Hand Rearing Centre.
