Bhubaneswar: The Budget session of the Odisha Assembly will commence on Monday. It will be a brief session running from February 5 to 13 during which Finance Minister Vikram Keshari Arukh will present an interim budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal.
This will be the last session of the Assembly before the general elections due later this year.
Odisha Assembly Speaker Pramila Mallik has convened a meeting of the legislators from all parties on Sunday evening to discuss the schedule of the Budget session. The Speaker is likely to seek the cooperation of the ruling BJD and Opposition MLAs for the smooth conduct of the House during the Budget session.
While no political party has convened meetings of their MLAs before the Budget session, it is expected that the last session before the general elections will be busy from the first day. Opposition BJP and Congress are likely to raise several issues of the state in the House.
