Bhubaneswar: As many as 16 scientists will be awarded in five categories as the Odisha Bigyan Academy released the list of winners in various categories with the approval of the Science and Technology Department.
Professor Khirod Kumar Jena of the School of Biotechnology, KIIT University will be conferred with the ‘Biju Patnaik Award’ for Scientific Excellence. Similarly, the chief scientist of ICAR-NRRI in Cuttack, Dr Sanghamitra Samantray in life science, NISER Professor Bedangadas Mohanty in Physics, NIT-Rourkela Professor Subrat Kumar Panda in Engineering and Technology, will be honoured with the ‘Samantha Chandrasekhar Award’ for their outstanding contribution to their respective field.
In addition, Professor Pinaki Dutt of PGIMER, Chandigarh, who is working outside the state, will be awarded the ‘Samanta Chandrasekhar Award’ for excellence in the field of life sciences.
Assistant Professor Dr. Sarita Shekhar Patnaik of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, Dr. Upramita Chand, Assistant Professor of Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar, Assistant Professor Rajesh Kumar Prusty of NIT-Rourkela will be awarded the Young Scientist Award.
Similarly, Odisha Young Scientist Award will also be given to Dr. Sanjay Kumar Panda, Assistant Professor, NIT-Warangal.
Along with this, Rabindranath Majhi and Tulasi Swain will be awarded the ‘Pranakrushna Parija Science Book Award’ in the general and children’s categories respectively.
In addition, Dr. Raja Kishore Paramguru, Dr. Subhransu Shekhar Mohapatra, Prof. Krishnachandra Mohanty, Prof. Dr. R. Bhima Rao and Professor Malay Kumar Mishra will also be awarded as scientists.
The above scientists will be awarded and felicitated in a state-level ceremony to be organised soon.
