Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Monday approved amendments to the Odisha Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1992, bringing key provisions in conformity with the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021.
The amendments provide the government the right to withhold or withdraw pension and/or gratuity in cases where departmental proceedings are instituted against an employee during service and continue after retirement, or are instituted within four years of the relevant event.
The Cabinet also approved a provision for payment of interest at the rate of seven per cent per annum if sanction of pension is delayed by more than one year from the date it becomes due, provided the delay is attributable to administrative lapses. The interest will be payable for the period beyond one year on the amount of pension.
The amendments follow recent changes to the OCS (Pension) Rules, 1992, made through a Finance Department notification issued on May 19, 2025.
