Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet has approved a new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility Policy-2022 in its meeting held on Tuesday. The policy will play a major role in reducing vehicular air pollution, informed Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Pramila Mallik in the State Assembly today.
Mallik said that under the policy all old vehicles that have completed 15 years of age have to be scrapped at the scrapping centre.
There will be an incentive system for people scrapping their old vehicles to buy new vehicles, she added.
The Revenue & Disaster Management Minister further informed that the State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved 17 proposals including the aforementioned from 12 departments.
The Cabinet has approved Odisha Garments and Industrial Textiles Policy-2022. This policy will create more and more employment opportunities in Odisha and help in the establishment of allied industries. The policy provides incentives for investment support, employment support and market development support.
Odisha Factory and Evaporation Monitoring Service (Amendment Regulations for Appointment and Service Conditions-2022) has got the approval of the Cabinet. Accordingly, written and interview test will be conducted by the Public Service Commission for the selection of the main post of Assistant Director.
The earlier decision to exempt Odia film ‘Daman’ from tax has been approved by the Cabinet.
The State Cabinet has approved a new Tourism Policy-2022. In addition to promoting investment in the tourism sector, there are provisions for approving Health, Wellness and Medical tourism as tourism enterprises.
The State Cabinet has approved the regulations of the coordinated recruitment process for physical standard measurement and physical ability test for filling various posts-2022. Its aim is to streamline the recruitment process for various posts under ‘B’ and ‘C’ categories under the state government.
Joint Recruitment Test Regulations-2022 for the posts of Junior Stenographer, Junior Typist, Data Entry Operator and Junior Clerk-cum-Typist has been approved by the State Cabinet. This will streamline the examinations and reduce the cost burden of the examinees and the state government.
The scheme for post-harvest management and post-harvest marketing of horticulture has received Cabinet approval to provide financial support to farmers and to provide assistance in the areas of branding, packaging and marketing of horticulture products. It will increase the income of farmers in rural areas and create employment opportunities and will help in rapid modernization of horticulture.
Odisha Logistics Policy-2022 has been approved by the Cabinet. This Policy envisions to create an integrated logistics ecosystem in Odisha to enhance competitiveness, operational efficiency and sustainability through innovation, governance, transparency, quality, and modern technologies. This will strengthen State’s position as the preferred destination for trade and commerce. The policy aims to map, develop and augment-the logistics facilities across the
State by developing infrastructure for better connectivity and freight movement through provision of incentives in the segments of building logistics infrastructure, skill development, and technology & innovation. It shall improve the efficiency of the supply chain through the adaptation of the latest technology at par with international standards. This policy focuses on decarbonizing the logistics sector by complying with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as the use of green fuel. A Logistics Policy Cell and a City Logistics Coordination Committee shall function under the State Logistics Cell for the proper implementation of logistics policy objectives for ease of doing business in coordination with various stakeholders. The policy shall facilitate for creation of an investment destination for private sector investment which will lead to generation of employment opportunities in the State.
Odisha Civil Aviation Policy-2022 has got Cabinet approval. It will improve regional, domestic and international air connectivity and create better business and employment environment in the state.
Odisha Akshay Shakti Policy-2022 has got Cabinet approval. Through this policy, it is aimed to achieve about 11,000 megawatts of renewable energy capacity in the state by 2030 from various sources.
The State Cabinet has also approved the Industrial Policy-2022. Emphasis has been placed on creating massive employment opportunities in the state and making Odisha the industrial hub of eastern India. According to this policy, the industries are classified as Thrust Sector, and Priority Sector. Under this new policy, the best incentives have been arranged for established industries in these two sectors.
Odisha Food Processing Policy-2022 has got Cabinet approval. According to this policy, the aim of this policy is to provide necessary infrastructural support and financial incentives to micro, small and medium enterprises involved in food processing.
Odisha Export Policy-2022 has got approval from the Cabinet. According to this policy, improving the export competitiveness and making Odisha one of the top 5 states of India and an export target of Rs. 3.5 lakh crore by 2026-27 has been set.
Two proposals related to clean drinking water supply from Odisha Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department have got the approval of the Cabinet. Accordingly, safe drinking water will be provided in 63 panchayats and 479 villages of Panjepur, Chikiti, Dhakepahandi and Sankhemundi blocks of Ganjam district under the JJM scheme.
The State Cabinet has approved the amendment of Section-2, Sub-section-2, Section-14, 19, 24, 25, 46 and 87 of the Act-2013 on Right to Fair Compensation and Clarity in Land Rehabilitation and Settlement. Along with this, the State Cabinet has also approved to include a new chapter 3-A, new section 10-A and 33-A in the said law. This will lead to social and economic growth of the state, rapid industrialization and investment opportunities for more and more investors
