Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet today approved the development of Ro-Pax Jetty and allied infrastructures connecting Kaninali in Bhadrak district and Talachua in Kendrapada district under Sagarmala Programme.
Kaninali is situated on the left bank of the River Dhamara in Bhadrak District and Talachua in Kendrapada District is on the Right bank of the river. Passengers are facing a lot of difficulties in embarkment and dis-embarkment from boats, launches as there is no jetty available in both the Passenger Ghats at Kaninali and Talachua.
This project “Development of Ro-Pax Jetty & allied infrastructures connecting Kaninali in Bhadrak district and Talachua in Kendrapada district, with a project cost of Rs.146.39 crore will accommodate Boats, Launches and other Vessels for easy and safe landing and berthing.
More than 1.00 Lakh people of 11 Gram Panchayats of Bhadrak & Kendrapara districts will be benefitted from this project. This connectivity project will reduce the travel time from 6 hours through road to 45 minutes by waterway.
It will also increase the commercial/tourism activities in proposed locations and enhance the safety of the passengers.
