Bhubaneswar: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha Nikunja Bihari Dhal on Monday ordered Ganjam Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida to suspend presiding officers of three booths and arrest two of them for serious dereliction of duty.
“Now we have ordered Ganjam Collector to suspend three presiding officers and also arrest two out of them. The reason is that they have committed serious dereliction of duty. They are presiding officers of Chhatrapur booth no. 27 and Chhatrapur polling station no.163. They will be suspended and also arrested. Further, it has been ordered to suspend the presiding officer of Gopalpur booth no. 193, ” informed Dhal addressing a presser here.
Earlier in the day, Dhal had ordered for suspension of two polling officials- one polling officer and one presiding officer.
Currently, polling is underway in the four Parliamentary Constituencies of Berhampur, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi and 28 Assembly Constituencies under these.
