Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi left for Delhi for a series of crucial meetings. This marks their second visit to the national capital within a week, underscoring the importance of the discussions ahead.
According to sources, apart from CM Majhi, BJP State President Manmohan Samal is also currently in Delhi. The duo is set to meet with all BJP MPs from the state at the residence of Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi. The meeting, scheduled for tomorrow, comes on the eve of the Vice-Presidential election on November 9. One-to-one discussions between the Chief Minister and the MPs are also on the cards.
The visit has sparked intense speculation about potential cabinet expansion in the state. With the BJP government in Odisha set to complete 15 months in office on September 12, there is growing anticipation about changes in the council of ministers. Currently, there are 16 ministers in the cabinet, with some holding multiple portfolios. Sources indicate that the cabinet expansion is all but certain, with several MLAs likely to be inducted.
Additionally, the allocation of chairmanships in corporations and committees is also expected to be finalized during this visit.
